NEPAL- ENEMIES OF PEACE PROCESS AND DEMAGOGUES

One could see a bleak image of the nation if present political events, exposed on the ground or hidden beneath the surface, were poured into a single basket. The picture indicates that the country is heading towards a face-to-face confrontation instead of political consensus. The government's response to Kailali Dudejhadi tragedy against the squatters proved that it is an uncivilized remark resulted with the government's grand design. Similarly, it is a part of demolishing the progressive forces by keeping a gun over the shoulders of 'leftist' led government as per the plans of domestic and foreign reactionaries. Likewise, it is an open secret committed to end the consensual politics and a plan to intensify the conflict making a party more emotional.
Conspiracies against consensual politics were hatched soon after the Constituent Assembly results were out some two years ago. The CA election was held only after the prognostication of Maoist's heavy loss in the polls by different agencies. Nepali media houses, NGOs, and political analysts including few international agencies were also in the line to predict Maoist's shameful defeat in the CA election. Himal Media had predicted the Maoists would win only two seats throughout the country in the first past the post electoral system. Many were manipulated and followed the studies before the CA results. However, the analytical readings by Somat Ghimire in 'Naya Patrika' and Barad Rajan of 'The Hindu' were writing against grain of that discourse. (See report of International Crisis Group after the CA polls)
Contradictorily to the previous analysis, CA results revealed the people's support to the parties. In the first past the post electoral system Maoist bagged nearly 50 percent of total seats and stood as a single largest party leaving other competitors far behind. Since then other parties desired to form an anti-Maoist alliance in a bid to tackle the single largest party. Until then there was not a terminus point to the consensual politics. But, after the Maoist's victory in the CA, then government delayed to hand over the regime for sfour months. All unbiased and serious readers are well aware to the fact. The series of conspiracies hatched before the formation of the Maoist-led government were visible in different forms and shapes and many others were denuded before they got a formal shape. The present psychology of the party is the continuity of past events and incidents. Royal palace was a centre for conspiracy in the past but President's residence has been a ground for plot and cabal at present.
Prior to the completion of a stage of the ongoing peace process, Chomnics, an American organization involved itself into an anti-Maoist game. CIA sponsored Chomnics is neither registered in Nepal nor is diplomatically recognised. But, it managed to distribute a huge amount of cash to different activists in its attempt to influence others and collect positive vibes from a level of intellectuals. Before the CA election, it left no stone unturned to downsize the Maoist by fuelling ethnic and regional groups. The main initiator and petty contractor for the campaign was Himal Association, whoever was a director behind the curtain. (Please see different volumes of Nepal Awaj)
Setting was prepared in vital posts for different people as per Himal's recommendation. Attempts were made for mobilizing professional organizations and a level of civil society with support from many NGOs. Their role was to languish the political parties and professional organizations in status quo rather than progress. This was a Nepalese model of Latin American counter-revolution and the main plan of the Americans was engineered targeting Tibet and is the latest continuation of Khampa [anti Chinas movement] scandal.
Some NGOs were readied for bringing the Himal's plan a success as the association has been working as a bridge for fund raising and a source for establishing nexus to the sources. Similarly, Maoist cadres, knowingly or unknowingly, provided them banner headlines of atrocities that were happened against the party policy. Right that moment, some NGOs and people with 'democratic background' were used in the anti-Maoist campaign.
Staunch human rights defender Krishna Pahadi unveiled the president's this very plan in an interview with the 'Nepali Post' months ago. This was further clarified when famous writer Khagendra Sangraula brought the President's pleas and tip-offs to the public in different papers. Behind all these designs, President’s undeclared advisor and publisher of Himal Magazine Kanak Mani Dixit’s hand was atop of all. Likewise, Federation of Nepali Journalists fell into this abyss while Freedom Forum of Taranath Dahal succeeded in using the banner of FNJ in a bid to spread the very sponsored game of Chomnics. As has become public, a number of people including Narayan Man Bijukchhe 'Rohit' have been trying to convince the President that there is no alternative to declaring a state of emergency and the concentration of all executive power in his hands. It is further clarified by the President's presence in a ceremony on the 25th anniversary of Rohit's marriage, as a part of latter's support to the Presidential rule.
These all performances were against the progressive forces with support from the elites and upper class while a traditional leadership of the Nepal Army was a vital player beneath surface. People from elite class and conspirators do not agree the slogan for civilian supremacy nor do they welcome real peaceful environment. Truly, they are warmonger and desire for bloody wars.
Similarly, the world's superpower America is trying its best to invest in army, administration including publications house in one or another ways. Indian political scientist Rajani Kothari has highlighted his experiences in his book The Politics and said how he was entrapped in the net of 'The Asia Foundation' and worked for American interests unknowingly. This can be taken as a reference for how and why the Nepali intelligentsia has been expressing its sponsored ideas against the civilian supremacy vehemently lately.
Nepal's conflict and the ongoing peace process has left an unique precedent in front of the world community. They, therefore, have their own interests and road maps to institutionalize the social transformation of our country in their own. Similarly, it is one of their campaigns for achieving a grand success on their behalf by rejecting the people's sentiments and aspirations. Kailali Dudejhadi massacre is a continuity of their latest exercise. To meander the issues and launch another discourse is the main campaign of dutiful and docile figures of Chomniks. So, the present debate of the country is whether to defeat the real enemies of the people or surrender to them.
